the origin Story
Hi, I'm Jen.
It was an average day in the lab, and I was working on adding some major updates to my CV. I got to the part where you're supposed to write something cohesive about your interests, activities, and employment. I found myself staring at my computer screen as I struggled to find the words to explain the combination of themes that had followed me since childhood.
Color theory, neat rocks, weird insects, impractical physics, strange plants, glowing bacteria, botanical textures, geometry in nature - I'd spent my life being captivated by a large variety of things that seemingly had no regard for how they would someday, if ever, fit together. They were all things that I just wanted to spend time looking at, that felt as if they deserved to be turned over carefully in my hands or my mind, and appreciated for the simple wonder that they bestowed.
Sitting there in the lab, I wanted to explain that I lived for the special moments where I got to pause and look more closely at colors, organisms, ideas, and stories, but that they didn't easily fit into a simple gallery or portfolio. Maybe... if I could find new ways to capture the nuances that I found so fascinating, I'd be able to share the essence of why I thought these things were worth a closer look - and suddenly, the idea for this website was born.
Look closely. It changes everything.
